I am currently working on a project to open a new venture, hopefully in the spring. I will release more details in the near future, but I am in the later phase of planning to open a music business in my local community of the South Hills Pittsburgh area. In general, it will be a community linked endeavor to promote the continuing education of young music artists by providing an environment that brings all aspects of becoming a professional performance musician.

More details to come soon.....

I have been working on a new CD for Christmas and I am excited to announce that it will be available in the next couple of weeks at most on-line stores, including iTunes, Rhapsody, Amazon, etc. I will also have it available on this website as soon as the production of the CD’s are complete.

This CD will offer a couple of original songs I wrote. One is an instrumental titled, “Snowy Mountains” and is a winter song. The other is a vocal song of the title of the CD. You can hear “At Christmas Time” on the HOME page by playing the new widget under the NEWS item. Please scroll down the home page and stop the auto play feature of my other CD before you play the new song widget. There is another song in the new widget titled, “Christmas Medley” which is a Latin arrangement of three traditional Christmas songs - Good King Wenceslas/Some Children See Him/I Saw Three Ships.

I hope you enjoy the preview. Send me an email if you would like notified when the Christmas CD is available.

Thanks!

David

Some great news, and when I really needed it! I received notice that one of the songs from my CD, “Thoughts of Home”, Western Sky, was selected as the Winning Instrumental Song in Song of the Year’s May contest. Below are the details.

PRESS RELEASE
PITTSBURGH SONGWRITER RECOGNIZED BY INTERNATIONAL CONTEST

Pittsburgh, PA native David Lindberg recently received the honor of being named Winner by the Song of the Year ( http://www.songoftheyear.com/ ) songwriting contest. Song of the Year is an international songwriting contest supporting VH-1’s Save the Music Foundation. The Song of the Year judges are some of the biggest names in music including many Grammy Award winners.

Song of the Year is excited to recognize David Lindberg for his exceptional ability for the song Western Sky. David competed against songwriters from all over the world for this honor. When asked what inspired the song David commented “I have always looked at settings in nature and noticed that when a particular song or music was playing, it increased the feeling or emotional release of the natural setting, giving it so much more meaning, sometimes bringing tears or chills.” “Music is what makes life meaningful, without it, life would be silent and have less emotional impact.”

Currently David is concentrating on his David songwriting career while hoping to ultimately write music for film and TV.

You can find more information about David at his Official Music website, www.davidlindbergmusic.com

SECOND GOOD NEWS FEATURE:

I had also sent in a song that I had written a few years ago for wedding ceremonies. The song is titled, “This Is My Promise” and the lyrics are perfect for a couple beginning the journey of marriage. I submitted this song to Song of the Year for a critique by a professional reviewer, who is a music business marketing and music expert. The reviewer gave top scores in every review point, nearly all 10’s! Here are a few of his personal comments.
(You can hear “This is My Promise” on MySpace at http://www.myspace.com/davidwlindberg

This is a simple, sincere and exquisitely personal song of your commitment of love. The message is presented in a very sincere manner. The music is soft and emotionally stirring. This is just a fabulous song. It embodies exactly what a lover would say to his beloved. The title is straightforward and true.
Your vocals could make a lady’s heart melt. The lyrics are perfect and absolutely beautiful. The performances are sound and flawless. On your arrangement, this song definitely needs a real grand piano, a cleaner and less electronic sounding string ensemble such as you’d find in a Korg Motif. You need a bass ensemble to include maybe a bass violin and cello. Otherwise the percussion sticks out too much. Melodies are precise and emotionally charged. The recording is very clean and will only need some minor filtering for hiss and flutter, along with some dynamic processing.
I’m getting picky on my suggestions because the right touch of class could make this song a hit! You’re almost there.

I just had my first radio interview ever this past Sunday, March 8 and it actually came out pretty well! I received some good comments on how well it sounded, that it was interesting and without any dead spaces. I have to give most of the credit to the show’s host and interviewer, Beverly Mahone. I met Beverly by chance as we are both bloggers and Baby Boomers who are always looking for others who have a passion for writing and sharing stories and information about issues of the Baby Boomer generation. As we continued to communicate, I made Beverly aware of my situation of losing my job in corporate America and devoting my full time to my music.

A few weeks ago, I received a comment on the social network application, Twitter, from Beverly that she would like to interview me on her radio program on Blog Talk Radio, called Passions. Beverly uses her show as a platform to interview Baby Boomers who show some level of Passion toward reinventing themselves in the later stages of their lives.

Thanks again to you Beverly for taking the time to help others, such as myself, gain better visibility!

Here is where you can listen to a podcast of the interview she did with me, as well as her other interesting interviews.
